This committee is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards for the instruction of English Language Learners. The committee members will meet periodically throughout the school year to focus on aligning the curriculum with the Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards and identifying appropriate instructional materials and staff development.

ELLs will acquire their academic English language proficiency due to various stakeholders utilizing the English Language Proficiency Standards within their instruction.

All Certified staff, administrators and board members will be familiar with and understand the application of the English Language Proficiency Standards.
The Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards are:

• Developed by WIDA Consortium in response to NCLB
  • 10 states representing some 275,000 English Language Learners
• Anchored in the Illinois Learning Standards
• A tool for teachers and administrators
• The starting point for assessment, curriculum, and instruction of English Language Learners
