The work of the Buildings and Grounds Department involves timely and effective response to the needs to the district. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards for a safe, healthy learning environment and to support educational excellence through the efficient management of resources.
Our staff of 48 custodians and 12 maintenance specialists are charged daily with cleaning and maintaining nearly 1,000,000 square feet of facilities. Work orders are submitted, routed, assigned, and their progress monitored online through the use of a computerized work order system. During the course of an average year, our maintenance staff complete approximately 3,000 to 4,000 work order requests from schools and the district office.
The Department is also responsible for life safety, indoor air quality, security, design, construction and remodeling, and acts as a liaison with municipalities and other governmental entities within our boundaries.
Both our custodial and maintenance personnel are involved with our continued emphasis and commitment on sustainability. From energy efficiency enhancements to green cleaning, our District leads the way in efforts to make our facilities healthier and more efficient.
