Brian Kiel - President Elected April, 2007 Mr. Kiel graduated from Forest View High School in Arlington Heights, after attending both elementary and jr. high schools in School District 59. He received a BS in Health Science from Purdue University and an MBA from Roosevelt University. He has been at Kraft Foods for the last 19 years in the areas of Customer Service and Sales Operations and is currently a Manager of Sales Policy. He has lived in School District 59 with his four boys and wife since 1999, but has lived in the community for over 35 years.

Sharon Roberts - Vice President Elected April, 2005 Mrs. Roberts graduated from Freeport High School and received both a BA in Communications and an MBA from Southern Illinois University. She spent most of her working career at Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), where she held a variety of roles in communications, finance and human resources. Mrs. Roberts, her husband Ron and their two children have lived in School District 59 for the last 15 years.

Karen Osmanski - Secretary Elected April, 2013 Mrs. Osmanski grew up on the northwest side of Chicago and graduated from Foreman High School in 1970. Mrs. Osmanski began her thirty-seven year career in education in District 59 after receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern Illinois University in 1974. During her career, Mrs. Osmanski obtained a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University and Type 75 Administration certification from Northeastern Illinois University. She served the children in several communities within District 59. Mrs. Osmanski taught kindergarten at Brentwood School in DesPlaines, first and third grades at Robert Frost School in Mt. Prospect, and served as the math resource and Talent Development Teacher at Rupley School in Elk Grove Village. Mrs. Osmanski also served as the principal of Rupley School from 2001 until her retirement in 2011. Mrs. Osmanski and her husband have two sons who attended Devonshire, Friendship Junior High and Elk Grove High School. Her family has been active in their community and Mrs. Osmanski currently serves on the Executive Board of the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove.

Appointed June, 2011 Ms. Krinsky graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester, Massachusetts and received both a BA in Psychology and an MS in Education from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Most of her career has been spent at Fortune 200 companies (AT&T, NCR, Eastman Kodak Company, SPSS Inc., etc.), working in various roles in software and hardware product design and development. Ms. Krinsky has remained actively involved in District 59 at the school and district level since her first child enrolled in 2000. Ms. Krinsky and her husband Stefan Tucker have lived in District 59 since 1990. They have two children.

Appointed Mrs. McPherson comes from a military family, living in 5 states and 2 countries as she grew up. She graduated from Manhattan High School in Manhattan, Kansas, then attended Kansas State University, where she received a B.S. in Animal Science. She holds a Masters in Genetics from Iowa State University. Prior to starting her family, Mrs. McPherson worked as a veterinary technician/assistant at Mount Plaines Animal Hospital. Mrs. McPherson, her husband Andy and their three children have lived in District 59 since 2000.

Appointed Mrs. Schumacher was valedictorian of her class at Carl Schurz High School in Chicago. She earned a BA from Cornell College and took Masters' level classes at Northwestern and National Louis Universities before beginning her teaching career at Dist. 72 in Skokie. One of her former students went on to teach in Dist. 59. She and her husband, Frank, moved to Dist. 59 in 1960 and both of them became very active in community activities. They have two children and two grandchildren ages 7 and 4 who are “the light of their lives”.

First Term 1975-1978 Mrs. Somogyi graduated from Resurrection High School and attended Wright Junior College. Mrs. Somogyi has focused most of her adult life on educational issues. She received the Thomas Lay Burroughs Award for the State’s Outstanding School Board President in 2005. Mrs. Somogyi and her husband Vernon have lived in School District 59 since 1967. They have three adult children and three grandchildren. |
