CCSD59 Hosts Google for Education
On April 24, 2015, superintendents and school leaders from all over the Chicagoland area attended the first ever K-8 Google Symposium at Grove Junior High School.
Google for Education chose CCSD59 to host the event because of the dedication to 21st Century Learning and the innovation taking place in classrooms throughout the district, shown in all grade levels.
Ben Grey, Assistant Superintendent for Innovative Learning and Communications at CCSD59, presented the process and shared how, through the implementation of technology, learning can be amplified in classrooms.
A panel composed of students and staff, along with Amy Gerardy, the district’s innovative learning coach at Grove, took part in a question and answer session. Mrs. Gerardy said, “It was incredible to hear about all the unique learning opportunities that are happening in the elementary and junior high classrooms. The students and teachers have been empowered to change the way they teach and learn — and want to share this with everyone!”
Classrooms at Grove Junior High and Ridge Family Center for Learning were opened up for the educators in attendance to visit. Students and teachers proudly showcased the apps, process, and new devices.
CCSD59 would like to thank everyone who made this event possible. It was an honor to host this event and share our story.
