CCSD59 Retirees Tour the ELC
The staff at CCSD59 are so dedicated, even when they retire, they’re still often spotted around the district.
Some of CCSD59’s retirees were recently seen at the Early Learning Center on November 16. So many of them had expressed interest in seeing the recent addition to the CCSD59 community that Karen Osmanski, Secretary of the CCSD59 Board of Education, helped coordinate making it happen.
“For many retired educators, District 59 was a big part of our lives and certainly our careers,” Mrs. Osmanski said. “We have a passion to remain connected because we take pride in how the District is educating our youngest learners. For me personally, the ELC is a long awaited dream come true for students. ”
Those who attended were first treated to several song performances and a dance number by the Holmes Choral Choir. After the performance ended, Melissa Ward, Coordinator of Early Childhood, began the tour of the ELC, which showcased everything from the front office to the outdoor learning areas to the culinary arts kitchen.
The retirees asked excellent questions and seemed genuinely interested in the process of how the ELC was developed and built. Ward said the feedback she heard was overwhelmingly positive, with retiree Judy Lipinski commenting, “There is just one word for this…impressive!”
Learning never stops at CCSD59, even for retirees.
