Fundraising Race Merits a Pie to the Face
They say victory is sweet. Sometimes, literally.
To celebrate the success of Brentwood’s PTO fundraiser, principal Michael Merritt good-naturedly took a pie to the face on Friday, February 27th. Mr. Merritt promised if the $7000 fundraising goal was met, he would allow a student to throw the pie at him. Not only did Brentwood meet the goal, they surpassed it, and sold $9,360 worth of World’s Finest Chocolate. The funds received from the sales will go directly back into the school, in the form of celebration assemblies, end-of-the-year events, curricular resources, and school beautification.
Students excitedly chanted, “Pie in the face!”, as Principal Merritt braced himself with a large smile and lucky raffle winner Alexandra B prepared to throw the victory pie. No additional explanation seems necessary when you have the photos below to speak for themselves.
‘I’m not sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing that our students were so excited to see me take a pie to the face…but it was a great time nonetheless,” said Principal Merritt. “We are extremely proud of all our Bears for their hard work.”
