Global Community Committee Spreads Cheer at Juliette Low

Around CCSD59, each school is celebrating the spirit of the season in their own way, providing students and staff with opportunities to experience the simple joy of giving and sharing positive messages. At Juliette Low, the Global Community Committee (GCC) has been a great facilitator of providing positive messages and experiences to students and staff both inside and outside their school building.

To help remind the students of just how important they truly are, GCC member Mrs. Lang worked with Low’s Fine Arts teacher Mrs. Peterson to create and post large posters throughout the school. Featuring artwork and quotes with positive messages throughout the school in English and Spanish. Some examples of the positive messages featured are:

  • What makes you different is what makes you beautiful.
  • “You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you.” – Henry David Thoreau
  • “Every human life is worth the same.” – J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

According to Juliette Low principal Mrs. Ejma, the students seem to be enjoying the meaning of the messages which has had a positive impact on the school overall.

On Thursday, December 8, in conjunction with the KidsCare Service Club, the GCC facilitated a family service project night packing boxes of food, cards, and blankets for Juliette Low families in need. The two groups worked together on one larger event to maximize the efforts of volunteers and provide the greatest help to the families who benefit.

The event had over 110 volunteers packing meals that will last for two weeks during the winter break for ten different Low families. Over 60 boxes were packed by the volunteers.

“We are so proud that our Juliette Low community is so generous in their time, money, and hearts to support our children,” said Ejma. “Our community is truly surrounding them with love.”
