Welcome to John Jay Elementary School, where every child is a STAR! Approximately 370 students from PreKindergarten through Fifth Grade come to John Jay everyday to fill their minds with knowledge. We take great pride in our hard working students, dedicated staff, involved parents, and innovative curriculum.
John Jay School staff, students, and parents are very proud of the excellent educational opportunities that are provided. Our mission is to build a Community of Learners. To that end, we are proud to provide many activities for children and parents. A visit to this site’s calendar and John Jay Journals (monthly newsletters) will provide you with an idea of the many activities offered at our school. The staff at John Jay is committed to providing an academic program that challenges each child and allows each child to become the best they can become. In addition to a strong academic curriculum, we strive to develop independent, productive, and responsible individuals. Learning extends beyond the school day at John Jay through before- and after-school clubs. Please check our link to find out more about these clubs. These clubs are organized by staff and provide many enriching learning experiences for children.
John Jay School works to provide quality programs that meet the needs of all children. Teachers collaborate to design meaningful learning experiences that are aligned with Illinois Learning Standards. Among many other programs, support for our students includes Preschool, Bilingual Education, Title I literacy support, and the Talent Development Program. Our school also offers the latest tools in educational technology that support classroom instruction.
The students and staff at John Jay are also dedicated to promoting good character. Every morning we begin with the John Jay STAR pledge. It provides a framework for our daily character and behavior.
