Mrs. Schumacher was valedictorian of her class at Carl Schurz High School in Chicago. She earned a BA from Cornell College and took Masters’ level classes at Northwestern and National Louis Universities before beginning her teaching career at Dist. 72 in Skokie. One of her former students went on to teach in Dist. 59. She and her husband, Frank, moved to Dist. 59 in 1960 and both of them became very active in community activities. They have two children and two grandchildren who are “the light of their lives”.
