Strategic Plan Updates & Focus Work 2020-21 – 4.01
The board was presented with an update on the strategic plan and focus areas for the upcoming school year. Goals for the students’ educational experience were discussed and what strategies would be employed to meet these goals, as well as next steps, priorities for the 2020-21 school year, and possible return-to-school scenarios. Components of the re-entry to school were also discussed, including the organizational structure, timeline, and overview of the planning process and organizational team. Focus areas following the reopening of school were also presented.

Approval Of Expenditure of Funds On An Emergency Basis – 5.01
SD 4: Long-term Financial Stability and Fiscal Integrity
According to School Code Section 10-20.21, the board is authorized to purchase supplies and materials involving an expenditure in excess of $25,000, without bidding, where funds are expended in an emergency and the expenditure is approved by three-quarters of the board.
As it has only recently been announced by the Illinois State Board of Education that schools should plan to reopen for the 2020-21 school year and personal protective equipment must be acquired prior to reopening, the board approved an emergency purchase of personal protective equipment, including face masks, shields, gowns, and other equipment as needed.
Approval Of Memo Of Understanding – COVID-19 Surplus Vacation Days: 12-Month ESP – 5.02
SD 3: Recruit, Develop, & Retain Distinguished Staff
The board approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the board and the District 59 Education Association (DEA) regarding surplus vacation days for 12-month ESP staff due to the COVID-19 school closure. The MOU expires September 1, 2020.

The board approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the board and the District 59 Custodial and Maintenance Employee Organization (CAMEO) regarding surplus vacation days for CAMEO staff due to the COVID-19 school closure. The MOU expires September 1, 2020.
