CCSD59 Swears in Four New Board Members
Following the April municipal election, Community Consolidated School District 59 swore in four elected members to its Board of Education at Wednesday night’s meeting.
Three of the members, Nicole Eddy, Nicole Kitzinger, and Michelle Notini, have been serving on the Board since last spring and summer after being appointed to fill vacancies. With their election, they now begin full four-year terms. Ryan Bookler was also elected and will be serving his first term on the Board.
All four members will serve through April 2029. They join current Board members Lucas Szczesny, Sarah Dzak, and TR Johnson in supporting the district’s mission and contributing to its continued progress. Brief introductions to each of the newly elected members are included below.
Mrs. Eddy grew up in Norridge, Illinois. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University and a Master of Arts in Special Education from the University of Phoenix. She is currently a special education teacher with 19 years of experience, working with students of all abilities from kindergarten through high school. She works at the elementary level and leads her school’s Inclusive Practices Committee.
Since becoming a parent in CCSD59, Mrs. Eddy has been an active member of the PTO at both John Jay Elementary and Holmes Junior High. She joined the John Jay PTO in 2018, serving as Secretary and later as Co-President until 2023. She also managed the John Jay yearbook and is currently the PTO Treasurer at Holmes Junior High. In March 2024, Mrs. Eddy was appointed to the CCSD59 School Board and now serves as Board Secretary. Her ongoing commitment to service and advocacy continues to strengthen the CCSD59 community.
Mrs. Eddy and her husband, Neal, have lived in the CCSD59 area since 2012. Their daughter, Cole, attends Holmes Junior High, and their son, Cooper, is a student in the Dual Language Program at John Jay.
Nicole grew up in Oswego, IL and moved to Elk Grove in 2011 with her husband Joe. Together they have two children, one who attends Ridge Family Center for Learning and one attending Grove Jr. High. Nicole worked at a bank as Senior Teller for 7 years, until 2013 when she decided to stay home and be a full-time mom. Currently, she works from home as a bookkeeper for Bookkeeping Bistro, allowing her the flexibility to still volunteer for school events.
Nicole enjoys volunteering at her kids’ schools and as a catechist for her church’s Religious Education program since 2019.
Nicole has been on the board since being appointed in August of 2024.
Michelle was born and raised in Chicago and has lived with her family in Mount Prospect since 2000. Michelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois and is a Certified Public Accountant. Michelle has worked in public accounting for 30+ years with experience in accounting, tax and consulting for small businesses, not-for-profits and local governments. She is currently a senior manager in the Client Accounting & Advisory Services Department of a large national accounting firm.
Michelle and her husband are the proud parents of two college students. Her children attended Robert Frost Elementary and Friendship Jr High schools in District 59. Michelle was actively involved in both schools, serving as PTO Treasurer or President each year. Michelle continues to be actively involved in the District 59 community through her volunteer efforts.
Mr. Bookler was raised in Elk Grove Village where he attended Salt Creek Elementary, Grove Junior High, and Elk Grove High School. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with middle school endorsements in science, language arts, and social studies. He has a master’s degree from Benedictine University in Leadership and School Administration. Mr. Bookler has been an educator for twenty-four years teaching 4th and 5th grade students. He has provided staff development to teachers, mostly in the area of technology. He is also an instructor for the Talent Development Program at Northwestern University.
Mr. Bookler has been involved in the community for several years, serving on various boards in Elk Grove Village since 2003, including the Community Service Board, Health and Community Service Board, and currently the Zoning Board of Appeals. Bookler has participated in Make a Difference Day, worked as a Salvation Army bell ringer during the holidays, and developed programs as part of the Education Month Committee for the Elk Grove Village 50th Anniversary Commission. Bookler volunteers as a coach for his son’s baseball team and also has served as the manager for his hockey team.
He is married to Traci, a reading interventionist and board member of the Salt Creek PTO. They have three children: one attends Salt Creek, another at Grove Junior High, and the oldest is a sophomore at Elk Grove High School.
