Welcome to a new school year! I am anxiously anticipating having your student for Math or LA/Reading.

I have been at Grove in the Special Education department for over 25 years; we will leave it at that! I am looking forward to meeting your son or daughter, and may well already know them from last year. Please know that you can contact me at any time via email with any concerns or questions I will make every attempt to contact you within 24 hours, hopefully sooner. You may call by phone also, and I will answer if I am not teaching or get back to you.

I am asking for the following supplies, with the use of the laptops the list has been somewhat reduced:

LA/Reading
Pens/pencils
Kleenex or paper towels
Personal Reading Book (PRB)

Math
pencils
Kleenex or paper towels
CALCULATOR TI 34 II ***(please see note on the back page)
(Texas Instruments) is the brand this is the calculator used in the general education classes and is usually around $12.00 can be found at Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc., any other calculator by Texas Instruments with similar numbers at top should also suffice.

Students are required to do independent reading at times. I would like them to have a PRB at all times in Reading classes. They can check out books from the school library, bring them from home or check them out from my personal library. Books checked out from me that are misplaced or lost need to be replaced depending upon the original cost of the book and the condition.

Also, many students benefit from having one of those accordion file folders to sort their papers from different classes….these are suggested, but not required.

IF YOUR STUDENT DOES NOT HAVE THEIR OWN CALCULATOR THEY CAN SIGN ONE OUT FROM ME. ALL CALCULATORS ARE NUMBERED. IF LOST, REPLACEMENT COST IS $10.00
*** It is best that they have their own calculator all year to learn how to operate it. Then when they are testing they are familiar with the function keys. If they borrow calculators that are different each time they could get confused on how certain operations are performed.

I would really appreciate having your contact info to expedite communication.

PLEASE DETACH, SIGN AND RETURN, THANKS!

Mary Hill
