Put it all together and share it with me for extra credit points.  There are lots of videos and info online if you need help!

9) Visit this link,  Your Weight on Other Worlds to see how your weight changes as you travel through the solar system.  For extra credit, include at least 10 planets/stars in a chart to show the differences.  Then, read the article at the bottom of that web page called “What is Going On?” and write a summary to explain this phenomenon.

8) Mass, Volume & Density QUIZ RETAKE: If you were unhappy with your performance on the recent Quiz, complete the questions at this LINK to earn extra credit points to help your grade.

1ST QUARTER

7) Go to this link to read the lyrics to the Big Bang song we recently heard in class.  Complete a project using the lyrics as a guide.  Options include:

*learning the song and singing it for Mrs. L or for the class, or recording yourself.

*make a set of drawings to represent what the lyrics are talking about (similar to the video we watched in class.)

*another option of your choice– let me know what you want to do and I can approve it or not

6)  If you were not satisfied with your INTRO UNIT TEST grade, choose among the following activities that correlate with the area you would like to improve in:

*LAB EQUIPMENT: If you did not do well on the lab equipment portion of the test, go to Google Classroom to find a link to a GoFormative to earn extra credit points.  When you are done, LET ME KNOW you did it so I can check it!

*SCIENTIFIC METHOD: Fill in this Google form to earn some Scientific Method Extra Credit points.  Tell Mrs. L if you do this EC so she can check it!

*UNIT CONVERSIONS: Go to this link: Converting Units Practice for extra practice on converting Units.  Fill in the Google form with your answers and submit for a chance to earn extra credit points.  After submitting, be sure to tell Mrs. Luxmore to check your answers!

*GRAPHING: Go to this link:  Graphing Extra Credit link and choose up to 4 graphs to complete for EC.  You must do them on paper–if you need a piece of graph paper, see me!

5)  We recently watched a short video about a guy “washing his Ferrari.” Make your own short video clip of an optical illusion or something that “fools the senses” for EC!

4) We recently watched a video called Edison vs. Tesla about the War of the Currents in the 1800s. Research more about their “war” and write up a summary for extra credit points.  Include any resources you use, and include your viewpoint/opinion and analysis.

3)  Visit this websiteScienceNews and find an article that interests you.  Create a doc to summarize what you learned and your opinion of the topic.  INCLUDE a link to the article.

2)  Find a newspaper, magazine, or online article that relates to science.  To receive extra credit, you must include your source, so be sure to mention where you found the article.  Also, include a printed copy or a direct link of the article you read. Write up a detailed and thought-out summary (about 2 paragraphs/10 sentences) of the main ideas and points in the article–do NOT copy and paste. Then, include another paragraph stating what you learned, your opinion about the issue, and any other thoughts about the topic.

Because it is extra credit, I of course expect you to put some thought into your work–don’t just repeat facts to me. If there is something you don’t understand, try to find out more about the topic.

For even more extra credit, share with the class!

Sources could include: daily newspaper, Sciencenewsforkids.com, Time magazine, Popular Science magazine, Newsweek magazine.

**Mrs. Luxmore has magazines that you can even check out!

1)  Design or make a creative project, such as a video, song, or poem, related to a topic we are studying in science class.  We saw examples of lab safety videos in class, and youtube has thousands of videos posted by students that you can use as examples. Talk to Ms. Luxmore if you have questions.  Points given will be based on the quality of the project.
