Health focuses on the physical, social, and mental/emotional changes that occur during adolescence. Students will discover that wellness allows people to live their very best lives. Good health habits can prevent illness, improve appearance, improve performance in school and sports, improve interaction with others, and enhance the way you feel about yourself. Students will learn that daily living involves choices and decisions based on healthy attitudes and quality of life.

This class is student-driven. Topics covered are based on individual student needs and interests, including:

  • Health Triangle, Self-Concept, Decision Making, and Goal Setting
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Communication, Stress Management, and Conflict Resolution
  • Nutrition and Fitness
  • Changes in Adolescence
  • Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases
  • Drugs, Tobacco, and Alcohol
  • Personal Safety in a Healthy World
  • Anger Management
  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Self-Harm
  • Bullying
  • I-Statements
  • Mindfulness and Positive Mindsets
