Monthly Updates – 5.01
The monthly Superintendent Report shared updates on key district work. Highlights include:
- Preparing for the New School Year: District teams are working hard this summer to simplify the curriculum, remove extra student testing, and hold training retreats for school principals.
- Summer Programs: The Summer Learning Enrichment and Academic Progress (LEAP) program saw great growth, serving 890 students (135 more than last year). The Extended School Year (ESY) program successfully supported 104 students working toward their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
- Summer Teacher Training: Educators are busy using the summer months for professional development (PD), with 293 staff members already attending 13 PD sessions and another 30 sessions scheduled to prepare for the fall.
- Hiring Success & Orientation: Staffing for the fall is nearly complete, with 99% of certified teaching roles filled. A three-day orientation will welcome new educators from August 3–5 to help them get settled and set up their classrooms.
- ParentSquare Communication Launch: The district’s new family communication mobile app and website, ParentSquare, will officially launch to families the week of July 27.
- Classroom & Laptop Technology Upgrades: Teachers are training on 45 new interactive touchscreen classroom displays this summer. Additionally, all staff members will receive upgraded laptops at the start of the school year.

Adoption of Board Policies from PRESS Update #121 – 7.01
The Board approved a list of policy updates from the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB). These regular updates make sure our schools follow changing state and federal laws.
Determination of Serious Safety Hazards Related to Student Transportation Services – 7.02
The Board completed its yearly review of local walking areas to find serious traffic safety hazards for students. Students living within these designated areas will continue to receive free school bus rides.
Approval of Consulting Services – 7.03
The Board approved a new agreement for outside professional consulting services.
Approval of Education Foundation Donation – 7.05
The Board approved a $5,500 donation from the District 59 Education Foundation. Every elementary school will receive $500 to support incoming kindergarten students for the 2026-2027 school year.

SuperEval Tool – 8.01
The Board discussed moving to SuperEval. This is an online platform that changes how school boards review superintendents and principals. It replaces old paper forms with a collaborative digital system to track goals and professional growth.
