CCSD59 Board of Education Announces New Superintendent
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. – January 28, 2026 – The Community Consolidated School District 59 (CCSD59) Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Brett Gallini as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Gallini will officially begin his role on July 1, 2026, succeeding Dr. Terri Bresnahan, who will complete her five-year tenure on June 30, 2026.
The Board conducted a comprehensive superintendent search in partnership with search firm BWP & Associates. As part of the process, staff, families, and community members shared feedback through a districtwide survey and listening sessions. That input was used to create a New Superintendent Profile, which identified several priority leadership qualities, including strong instructional leadership; being visible and approachable; collaborative decision-making; and a commitment to serving all students. The profile guided the search process and resulted in a diverse pool of candidates.
“We are grateful to the many incredibly talented candidates who expressed interest in being the next leader of CCSD59,” said Board President TR Johnson. “The feedback we received from our community helped shape our decision-making at every step of the process. Dr. Gallini stood out as a leader whose robust and diverse experience and approach closely aligned with the priorities identified. We are confident he will continue building on the strong achievements the district has made over the last several years, while keeping students at the center of every decision.”
Selected for his people-centered leadership approach, Dr. Gallini brings more than 25 years of experience as a public-school educator and district leader. He currently serves as Senior Executive Director in the Houston Independent School District, where he provides strategic leadership and direct support to 45 schools. He believes that when educators and school leaders are supported, students thrive.
Originally from the New York City metropolitan area, Dr. Gallini began his career as a fifth-grade teacher in Los Angeles, California. His professional experiences includes teaching multiple grade levels, serving as an instructional coach, and leading schools as both an elementary and middle school principal, including a dual language school and an International Baccalaureate World School. He has also served in district leadership roles overseeing curriculum and instruction for grades PK–12. A longtime advocate for inclusive practices, Dr. Gallini founded a high-performing public school in New York City with a fully inclusive program serving students with autism – work that continues to shape his commitment to student-centered, equitable systems.
“I am honored to lead Community Consolidated School District 59 – listening first, learning fast, and honoring the great work already happening,” said Dr. Gallini. “I am grateful to the Board of Education for their trust and support. Together – with our educators, families, and community, we will build on what’s strong and create what’s next.”
Dr. Gallini holds a Doctorate in Education Administration, Leadership, and Policy from Fordham University, a Master of Arts in Education from Pepperdine University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from California State University.
He and his spouse, Rico Gallini, are excited to move to the community and become part of the CCSD59 family. Their two sons, ages 6 and 3, will attend elementary school in the district, and the Gallini family looks forward to building strong relationships and contributing to the community.
