The mission of the Information Systems and Services Department is to facilitate and support the deployment of district hardware, software, network technology and to provide services, training and support for the technology and information processing infrastructures within the School District 59 educational community.
Technology is ubiquitous and requires daily care and maintenance. The ISS Department is charged with the task to keep the boxes, wires and software working in harmony with all staff among fourteen schools and the Administration Center. At times both challenging and exciting, technology support is a continual learning experience.
Department staff are roughly divided into those responsible for the maintenance of mission critical hardware and software and those who support the maintenance and use of information that is managed by the administrative technology systems. Although staff tends to be specialized, all are involved in staff development efforts to assist others in the use of hardware and software systems. Given the integrated nature of hardware and software, staff members work on various sides of technology support.
Seven staff members support this area: ISS Director, four technical support specialists, webmaster and repair technician.
