CCSD59 Board of Education Announces Resignation of Vice President Karen Osmanski

English|Español

Community Consolidated School District 59 (CCSD59) Board of Education Vice President Karen Osmanski resigned her position effective February 25, 2020, the board announced on Tuesday evening.

Regarding her resignation, Osmanski shared:

“It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter of resignation from my position on the CCSD59 School Board, effective today, February 25, 2020. However, my unwavering support of and respect for the dedicated work of all professionals within the District will continue.

At this time my husband and family need me to be able to navigate an uncharted journey that lies ahead of us. In order to do this, my time, efforts and energy cannot be divided.

I am so grateful to the many administrators and staff who I have had the pleasure to work with throughout my 40 plus years of service in District 59. This common passion for educating the youth of our communities has brought me so much joy.”

Osmanski served on the board since 2013, most recently acting as vice president since April 2019. She also previously held the office of secretary. She contributed to many committees during her time on the board, including Behavioral Intervention, Board Policy, Curriculum Resources, and Strategic Planning Sub-Committee. She is also highly involved with the District 59 Education Foundation, most recently serving as treasurer.

According to Illinois State Statute, the CCSD59 Board of Education has 60 days to announce the appointment of a new member to serve out the remainder of the term, which expires in April 2021. The board will appoint a new member from the candidates currently in the interview process to fill the vacancy from Sharon Roberts’ January 10, 2020, resignation from the board.

“We have 11 candidates who applied to fill the vacancy from Ms. Roberts’ resignation,” shared CCSD59 Board President Janice Krinsky. “Every candidate who applied is qualified to serve. The board is fortunate to have so many candidates from which to choose, and I am confident we will appoint two excellent individuals to fill both vacancies. We are hoping to seat both new board members at the March 9, 2020, board of education meeting.”
