Welcome to ParentSquare: Our New Communication Tool!

Starting this school year, Community Consolidated School District 59 is moving to ParentSquare. This is our new, all-in-one system for school-to-home communication.

All District 59 families are automatically set up to get emails through ParentSquare. We use the contact details you provided in Skyward. Creating a ParentSquare account or downloading the mobile app is optional; however, signing up lets you:

  • See Everything in One Place: View all district and school announcements on a single, easy-to-read webpage or app feed.
  • Control Your Alerts: Choose to get messages instantly, or combine daily updates into a single evening summary sent after 6:00 p.m.
  • Choose Your Language: Set your account to automatically translate incoming school messages into your preferred language.
  • Engage with the Community: Comment on school postings (when allowed) to connect with your school community.

Learn More:

  • Take a look at this parent & guardian training video for a quick introduction to ParentSquare
  • Check out the parent & guardian self-paced training module that covers things you need to know about using ParentSquare.

You can use ParentSquare on a computer web browser or by downloading the mobile app.

  1. Activate Your Account: Find the signup email or text message sent by the district. You can also visit ParentSquare.com/signin and type in the email address or cell phone number you have in Skyward.
  2. Download the App (Optional): Search for “ParentSquare” in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to check messages on your phone.
  3. Pick Your Settings: Once you log in, go to your account settings to pick your preferred language and alert times.

Families are strongly encouraged, though not required, to download the ParentSquare Mobile App. This app lets you view all CCSD59 communications in a single place and pick your own notification settings to enhance your experience.

Please note that families will continue to receive emails like normal, even if they choose not to use the ParentSquare App.

Please ensure your contact information in Skyward is up-to-date. If it is not correct, you can update it in Skyward and it will automatically sync with ParentSquare overnight.  If you have difficulty making changes, please contact your child’s school office.

The Communications Department will host a ParentSquare Help Desk during our upcoming Back-to-School events on Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8

If you want hands-on help setting up your account, downloading the app, or changing your notification settings, please visit our table along with your mobile phone or personal device.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To make sure our staff is fully trained, District 59 is rolling out ParentSquare features in steps. During the 2026-27 school year, the system is being used only from a district and school-level. We will be phasing in teacher-level communications:

  • Junior High School (JHS) Staff: Classroom messaging will start in January 2027.
  • Elementary School (K-5) Staff: Classroom messaging will start in the 2027-28 school year.

If your child’s teacher is not using ParentSquare yet, please continue to talk to them using their regular school email address.

ParentSquare copies information from our main school system, Skyward, every night. If your contact information is wrong, you must log into Skyward to fix your profile. Changes saved in Skyward will show up in ParentSquare the next day. If you have difficulty making changes, please contact your child’s school office.

When a parent logs into ParentSquare, they can view their children. Parents will see all children associated with their ParentSquare account, even if their child is at another school site or district (if all schools/districts use ParentSquare).

You can choose how often you get messages. Instant sends messages right away. Digest collects all regular messages and sends them in one email or text after 6:00 p.m. (Please note, emergency safety alerts are always sent instantly).

Review the following guides on customizing your account settings: English / Spanish

On the Mobile App

  1. Open the Menu: From the home screen, tap the menu icon (the three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner.
  2. Go to Settings: Tap Account, and then choose Notifications.
  3. Choose Your Alerts: Toggle the settings to choose how you want to get alerts (Email, Text, or App) for each of your children’s schools.
  4. Pick Your Time: For each option you turn on, choose how fast you want the message: Instant or Digest.

On a Web Browser

  1. Log In: Go to the ParentSquare website and log into your account.
  2. Find Your Account: Click your name in the top-right corner of the screen and choose My Account.
  3. Open Settings: Look at the menu on the left side of the screen and click Notification Settings.
  4. Set Your Preferences: Under the “General Announcements & Messages” section, choose how you want to receive alerts. You can set Email, Text, and App alerts to Off, Instant, or Digest.

What the Alert Choices Mean

  • Instant: You get an alert right away, every time a district or school message is posted.
  • Digest: You get just one summary every evening with all the updates from that day. This is the best choice if you want fewer alerts. These summaries are sent daily after 6:00 p.m.
  • Off: You will not get alerts for normal school posts. Note: Important safety and emergency alerts will always be sent to you immediately, even if you choose this option.

If you are not receiving SMS updates from ParentSquare, please begin by making sure your mobile number is listed correctly within your Skyward contact profile.

If you previously unsubscribed from receiving texts, you can turn this service back on by texting the keyword START to 66458. This action will restore text message communication to your phone.

Recommendation: Rather than opting out of text entirely, we recommend you set your notification preferences to “Digest.” This will let you receive one summary of all the messages from the day. Staying opted-in to text messaging ensures you maintain a text connection for any urgent alerts sent down the line.

If you are not receiving ParentSquare emails, please begin by confirming that a current email address is listed within your Skyward contact profile.

We also recommend checking your spam or junk folders for messages from “donotreply@parentsquare.com.” If found in your spam or junk folder, please add the “ParentSquare.com” domain or the specific address “donotreply@parentsquare.com” to your email provider’s safe senders list (such as Gmail or Yahoo).  Instructions for this process can be found through a quick online search.

For those utilizing Gmail, please follow these steps:

  • Open your account settings.
  • Locate and click on the “Mail” section.
  • In the side navigation, select Accounts and then Block or Allow.
  • Under the Blocked Senders area, identify the address you wish to permit and update your preference.

To guarantee the receipt of all urgent alerts, we strongly advise managing your notification frequency through the ParentSquare settings rather than opting out of emails entirely. Should you require further support, please contact your school’s main office or utilize the Communications Support Form available on this page.

If you forget or need to change your password, you can easily set up a new one using a web browser or the mobile app. Follow these simple steps:

On a Web Browser

  1. Find the Link: Go to the ParentSquare login page and click Forgot password? 2. Enter Your Info: Type in the cell phone number or email address that you gave to your school.
  2. Check Your Messages: Look for a text message or email with a 6-digit code or a special reset link. If you do not see the email, check your Spam or Junk folder.
  3. Enter the Code: Type the 6-digit code into the box on your screen or click the link in your email to choose your new password.

On the Mobile App

Your next steps depend on whether you are logged in or logged out:

  • If you are currently signed out:
    1. Type in your email or phone number and tap Continue.
    2. Tap the Forgot Password? button.
    3. Enter the 6-digit code sent to your text messages or email.
    4. Type in your new password and tap Change Password to finish.
  • If you are already signed in and just want to change it:
    1. Tap the menu icon (the three horizontal lines) and tap Account.
    2. Tap Change Password.
    3. Enter the security code sent to your phone or email.
    4. Follow the steps on your screen to type and save your new password.

Things to Remember

  • Skyward Must Match: ParentSquare only recognizes the phone number or email you put into Skyward. If your contact information has changed, you must update it in Skyward first before you can reset your password.
  • Need Help? If you do not get the code or still cannot log in, please call your school’s main office. Our staff will check your information and help you get connected!
